As I type this letter, you have just finished your second break and are going into your seventh hour at work today. You’ve been up since 6am and won’t get home till 5:30pm, tired and exhausted after your ten hour working day. However, no matter how tired you are, you never fail to walk in the door with your weary arms wide open to give me a hug and to ask how my day has been.
It is the things in this little excerpt of your daily routine that make me love you more.
Although you complain about the aches in your young body, and the banality of your daily routine, you still find ways to put sunshine in my life. Your work ethic is something that surpasses your paid work, it shows in how much you put into our relationship – thank you. You have taught me how to give more, even when it feels like I have nothing more to give.
Although you get frustrated with things that life throws our way, you always manage to find another way to get through it – thank you. You have taught me it’s okay to get mad, but after it’s done, keep going.
Although you have such a huge heart, you know when to give, and when to say no – thank you. You have taught me when enough is enough, and it’s okay to say no.
And although you may do and see things differently to me, even when it feels like we’ve come to an impasse, you somehow manage to bring us to a point of agreement – thank you. You have taught me that it’s not cool to be a brat.
